Meet your mentor
Helen has been working with young people for over a decade and a large part of the work has been mentoring young people one to one.
Helen first started mentoring young people at Mahdlo youth Zone, she volunteered as a mentor for 2 years, during which time her and her mentee won Match of the month, She was interview along with her mentee for the Oldham Chronicle and also won a Queens award for voluntary service.
She then became a teaching assistant and later a learning mentor at The Radclyffe School in Chadderton, working one to one with students with a wide range or needs. She was honoured during this time to be nominated by one of her students for a teaching assistant of the year award at the Pearson National teaching awards.
During her role with Trafford council as a Missing from home worker, she delivered one to one mentoring with young people who had a history of going missing from home or care and supported them through complex experiences and emotions.
Along side her extensive experience, Helen has a degree in youth work, a level 2 in counselling, a level 3 award in education and training in autism and ADHD and safeguarding.
